Agile is a mindset that set of attitudes supporting an agile working environment. These include respect, collaboration, improvement and learning cycles, pride in ownership, focus on delivering value, and the ability to adapt to change. With so many methods under Agile, such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, and Crystal.

But many of you may wondering on how to become Agile or be an Agilist. Questions that stuck in every mind of Project Manager who want to implement Agile.

The PMP is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. It is recognized as the gold standard in project management all over the world. The certification is very global because as a PMP, you can work in virtually any industry with any methodology and in any location. Rewards for PMP credential holders can be significant.According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey, 10th Edition, PMPs in the U.S. earn an average of 23 percent more than their non-credentialed counterparts. The survey reports median salaries of PMPs in the United States at $115,000, as opposed to $92,000 for non-PMP certified project managers.

The Agile Certified Practitioner certificate or PMI-ACP is another credential offered by the Project Management Institute. This certification emphasizes the use of agile practices in project management. Agile strategies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean are featured for project managers to cultivate maximum responsiveness to market volatility. Agile project management was previously utilized only in software development. However, the philosophy of quickly adapting to necessary change in markets, consumers and technologies has caught on in other professions. It’s values of people and interactions over processes is a radical change from the way management has commonly been structured. This change has proven to be a welcome one where implemented.

The PMI-PBA is exclusively made for business analysts who work on programs and projects, as well as the project and program managers who do business analyses as part of their daily routines. According to the PMI, if you have this certification, you’ll be effectively qualified to be an integral stakeholder in small and large scale projects. A PMI-PBA certification almost always guarantees a greater number of leads in terms of your careeradvancement. It also opens the doors to a variety of opportunities. Credentials by the PMI make you a practitioner who can demonstrate both knowledge and competency in the project management process. With this certification, you’ll become invaluable to the company that chooses to employ you. And recruiters will always want you to join their companies.

The PMP certification opens you up to global career opportunities. Project Managers with the PMP credential have in the last one year recorded an average of 15% salary increase post certification.
To be eligible for the PMP Exam, there are some requirements to be fulfilled:

  1. Must have enough project management experience as stipulated by PMI
    • For four-year degree holders (e.g. bachelor degree): need to have at least 3 years project management experience and minimum of 4.500 hours leading and directing projects.
    • For secondary degree holders (e.g. high school diploma, associate’s degree): need to have at least 5 years project management experience and minimum of 7.500 hours leading and directing projects.
  2. Have the required 35 Hours of Project Management Education
    Any education on project management offered by a formal education provider taken at any time before the PMP Exam will satisfy this requirement, e.g. a course in your degree curriculum about project management with a length of more than 35 hours
