Project of The Year 2017

Project of The Year Award program honors project teams for their passion, talent and expertise in making the greatest contributions to the project management profession. This award recognizes the accomplishments of a project and project teams for superior performance and exemplary execution of project management using processes and approaches that are consistent with A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide – Fifth Edition, released 2013)

Started with a single award in year 1974 in PMI Global US, the program has expanded to offer multiple awards. These recognize people, books and articles, organizations, products and projects. Following the success in PMI Global and PMI Indonesia Chapter (PMIIC) launched this award in 2016, now PMIIC is running the second Project of The Year 2017 (POTY 2017) and invites all corporates to showcase their outstanding projects for these award.

  • Awards – all project submissions will be recognized at the gala and receive an award, additionally, the winner will receive:
    • The Project of the Year (POTY) 2017 title and trophy
    • 2 two-day PMI Indonesia Symposium & Exhibition pass (include accomodation only) - approximate value $1400
    • Framed photograph of the winning project team and the POTY 2017 trophy
    • Goodie Bag with PMIIC merchandizes



  • The project must be completed between January 2014 and January 31, 2017.
  • The project must be implemented in Indonesia or carried out by a company based in Indonesia or originated from Indonesia.
  • The total size of the project must meet following conditions for the categories:
    • Business & Information Systems:
    • Minimum budget of USD 1 million, and 10 or more team members.
    • Engineering & Construction:
    • Minimum budget between USD 2 - 5 million, and 25 or more team members.
    • Minimum budget above USD 5 million, and 25 or more team members
  • An organization cannot submit more than 2 projects per category, but may submit projects in multiple categories.
  • The project has not won any PMI Distinguished Project Awards.
  • PMI affiliation is not necessary for nomination.



  • A project which has either won or has been previously nominated for the PMI Project of the Year Award or the PMI Award for Project Excellence.
  • Sitting members of PMIIC Board of Directors may not participate in the nomination or evaluation process of an award, nor are members of the Board eligible to receive an award.

  • One Lead Nominator shall be designated with whom PMI will communicate regarding the nomination.
  • The Lead Nominator does not require PMI affiliation.
  • The Lead Nominator shall submit the PMI Project of the Year Award Application document addressing each of the criteria in two pages or fewer and listing the relevant criteria title and description at the top of each page.
  • All submitted material shall not exceed twenty pages.
  • The Lead Nominator shall ensure that all documentation is accurately completed and submitted. Incomplete nomination packages will not be evaluated.


The PMIIC POTY selection process consists of a document review. Candidate projects must be submitted to the current members of the PMIIC Project of the Year Committee Members (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

  • The evaluation process is governed by the following independent bodies comprising of experienced industry leaders:



Roles & Responsibilities

Judges Panel

Senior Executives from the relevant industry

§  Govern the overall program.

§  Provide guidance to the Evaluation Committee and the program team in designing and executing the program.

§  Review the evaluation reports submitted by the Evaluation Committee and select the finalists & winners.

Evaluation Committee

Senior Project Managers/Directors from the relevant industry

§  Review and approve the evaluation criteria and process.

§  Obtain necessary guidance from Judges Panel and perform an objective evaluation of the submitted projects.

§  Prepare the evaluation report and submit to the Judges Panel

  • Evaluation Committee evaluates the project nominations according to the eligibility criteria and provides the evaluation report to the Judges Panel.
  • Judges Panel selects the finalists for each category; if needed the finalists may be required to provide more details and conduct presentations in front of the Judges Panel.
  • Judges Panel selects the winner of each category and will be announced on 1 September 2017. The awarding will be given at 7th Symposium and Exhibition 2017 Networking Dinner on October 12th, 2017 at Hilton Hotel, Bandung, Indonesia.
