The Project Management Professional (PMP)® is the most important globally-recognized and independently validated credential for project managers, perfect if you have demonstrated experience and competence in leading project teams. However, it is also considered as one of the most difficult certifications one can obtain; it requires well-sound study plan, self-commitment and resilience. Let alone, the advance English in which PMBoK is written, making PMBoK a “heavy-duty” reading and may lead to a risk of misinterpretation of the meaning (Project Management Body of Knowledge, aka “PMBoK” is the main resources of the PMP exam structure).

To assist PMP pursuant, PMI Indonesia Chapter has been running a program called PMP Study Group, assisting hundreds of PMP candidates to understand better about PMP, its procedure, its structure and have a chance to meet our mentor volunteers who shall assist you in study plan.

Now that you are a credential holder, you need to adhere to PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. To follow the program, participate in professional development activities to earn professional development units (PDUs) to maintain your credential.

Every credential requires a specific amount of PDUs per three-year certification cycle. As a PMP credential holder, you need to earn 60 PDUs per three-year cycle and comply with PMI's renewal requirements (including payment of a fee) to maintain their certification status.. Other requirements have different requirements; therefore please visit their respective pages to find out more.

The exception to the CCR program is the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®, which requires you to retake the CAPM® exam before the end of your five-year certification cycle.

What is a PDU and how do I claim them?

You will typically earn one PDU for every one hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity. Fractions of PDUs may be reported in 0.25 increments following one full hour.  When attending conferences, one claim is made for the whole event, although you still need to keep records of the sessions actually attended.

In addition to attending formal training courses, workshops, conferences and seminars; PDUs may also be earned by attending most Chapter meetings, professional activities and by presenting papers at conferences, and many more.

Full details of the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program, the latest CCR handbook and access to the PDU reporting system is on the PMI web site at http://www.pmi.org/CareerDevelopment/Pages/MaintainYourCredential.aspx

For general enquiries contact the Education Team.

To earn PDUs by attending Chapter events, see our Upcoming Events page.

Our PMP/CAPM Exam Prep Course has been revamped and reorganized to reflect the requirements of the new Project Management standard (PMBOK 4th edition) as well as the skills required to pass the PMP/CAPM Certification exam.

PMI Indonesia Chapter provides PMP Exam Preparation Sessions in a quarterly basis. These events are open for anybody who has the intention to pursue the PMP® credential. The course covers materials from the handbook and combines the material with exam trial during the session as well as incorporates group discussion as a significant element to prepare participants. Group discussions and knowledge sharing during the course maximize the learning opportunity. An exam trial for PMP certification is to provide the participants with the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge on materials tested. Participants can also earn PDUs as a part of the process.

Please stay tuned for our 2011 Preparation Courses, and also check our event calendar. For more information on preparation courses or how to join, contact the PMI Indonesia Chapter – VP of Education: swahyudiono

The Project Management Institute (PMI®) is project management's leading global professional association, and as such, it administers a globally accepted and recognized, rigorous, examination-based, professional certification program of the highest caliber. The following is the list of benefits of why our certification is beneficial for both your professional development and future careers.

Flexibility. PMI certifications are not based on one specific methodology, so they’re flexible and adaptable. You can easily transfer them between industries, market segments and geographic locations.

Wide Range of Credentials. Besides the PMP, we also offer various certifications that suit your needs and career goals, which include specialty certifications on project schedule, risk management and program management. You can apply for any certification that matches your qualifications, and no certification serves as a prerequisite for another.

Keeping you up-to-date. PMI continually conducts in-depth studies to ensure that our credentials actually reflect the current skills, knowledge and best practices you need to succeed.

Encouraging professional growth. You never have to worry about a PMI certification becoming obsolete. Our certification maintenance program requires you to earn professional development units (PDUs), which encourages you to continually develop your skills and stay current as the profession changes.

Helping you get ahead. PMI certification offers financial benefits — the Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential increases your salary by up to 10%, according to the PMI Salary Survey — Sixth Edition, 2009—and helps you stand out and better market yourself to prospective employers.

Renowned throughout the world. Part of that marketability comes from the prestige of PMI certifications. PMI has provided project management certifications for over 25 years, and our PMP® credential was the first one designed specifically for project managers.

Prior to sitting the exam, you must register your application via the PMI International web site. (PMI Indonesia Chapter does not administer the examination) by completing the on-line application forms to demonstrate your eligibility.

Once your on-line application has been assessed and determined to be complete, PMI will send you electronic notification to submit payment of the credential fee. This requires you to go back into the on-line certification system to: select your examination delivery method, request any special facilities, and submit payment. Your application will then either be randomly selected for PMI's Audit process or you will receive your examination scheduling instructions.

After receiving your email advising your candidate details, scheduling your examination is straightforward. All eligible candidates can quickly and easily schedule, cancel and reschedule their certification examinations on-line.

This overall process is done individually by the participants. However, PMI Indonesia does offer a registration assistance service exclusively for our members or anybody who is interested in taking the exam, intended to educate the applicants on the process and eligibility and to guide them throughout the entire process. This complementary service is delivered through information sessions or personal consultation.

Check our event page for the upcoming information sessions or you may also contact us to talk to our associate. For information on registration assistance, contact the PMI Indonesia Chapter – VP of Education: swahyudiono

Project Management Professional (PMP)®

If you enjoy the prestige that comes from being the best in your field, then you'll appreciate the professional advantages derived from attaining the PMP. PMP certification is the profession's most globally recognized and respected certification credential. The PMP designation following your name tells current and potential employers that you have a solid foundation of project management knowledge that can be readily applied in the workplace.

To be eligible for the PMP certification, you must first meet specific education and experience requirements and agree to adhere to a code of professional conduct. The final step in becoming a PMP is passing a multiple-choice examination designed to objectively assess and measure your project management knowledge. This computer-based examination is administered globally.

2011 NEW UPDATE: PMI.org - As part of our ongoing effort to keep you informed, this message is a reminder that on 31 August 2011, the updated PMP® examination will be released. The update to the examination is the result of the recently completed Role Delineation Study (RDS), about which we began communicating with you in 2010. In order to prepare for the transition to the new examination, PMI recommends that you utilize the following documents:

  1. PMP Examination Content Outline which contains the blueprint for the updated PMP examination
  2. Crosswalk document which shows you the relationship between the old and new PMP examinations
  3. Frequently asked questions about the RDS and examination update

PMI has issued information to the public regarding the timing of the examination update. PMP candidates that will be taking the examination after 31 August may have questions, which the documents listed above will help to answer. With your help, we are confident that the transition will be smooth and successful.

For general questions about the PMP examination update, please visit the PMP Update page on PMI.org for more information.

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®

PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a valuable entry-level certification for project practitioners. To be eligible for the CAPM certification, you must first have both: a secondary diploma (high school or the global equivalent) and at least 1,500 hours experience OR 23 hours of project management education. You have to also agree to adhere to a code of professional conduct. Whether you’re new to project management, changing careers, or already serving as a subject matter expert on project teams, the CAPM can get your career on the right path or take it to the next level.
